You didn't mention how many drives you have and if you actually want to use Raid? Well there's Windows Server on the physical box with just the Hyper-V role. Vmware is far easier to use and more popular. The Virtual Agent is currently unavailable. Update the hypervisor on its own.

Then your only option is Windows as the Raid will rely on a software driver again if it's supported and you can find the driver. Maybe it's a mental thing but it also feels better to use Microsoft for everything, just one vendor software wise I guess. Windows Update ironically just completed on Server and after a reboot it would never boot again!

XenServer is completely free for all features making it a really interesting choice and it is still pretty easy to use. HyperV is not Windows but most of its hardware support limitations are tied to Windows because of how it operates. If you don't plan to use Raid, then you can ignore device manager as long as it all works and just crack on! So was asking if on this machine I should also do windows updates etc.

So it sits there at the Intel boot agent forever until I go into Bios and change the order. Is my Windows version bit or bit? So that's how I got into that but definitely not tied to Hyper V at all. If there is no Windows on the physical box, there are no Windows updates to apply.
